The results of Professor Shimokawa’s research group on the world’s first ultrasound therapy for right heart failure have been published online in JACC: Basic to Translational Science”. A press release was also issued by Tohoku University.
A research group (Tohoku University) led by Professor Hiroaki Shimokawa, Founder, Chairman & CMO of SWI, has published the results of the world’s first ultrasound treatment for right heart failure online in “JACC; Basic to Translational Science”, and a press release has also been issued by Tohoku University.
There are two types of heart failure, left heart failure and right heart failure, and many effective drug therapies have been developed for left heart failure. However, no effective drugs have been developed for right heart failure, and it’s a worldwide problem. A research group led by Professor Hiroaki Shimokawa has shown that low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) is effective and safe in animal models of right heart failure, and has also elucidated its detailed mechanism of action. The study was conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety of LIPUS therapy in animal models of right heart failure. This study suggests that LIPUS therapy may be effective in the treatment of right heart failure, a condition for which there is currently no effective treatment.
